Salmon Fishing Scotland

Visit the royal rivers chasing the fabled Scottish Springer.

Being the ancestral home of spey casting, Scotland is steeped in angling history. Fishing the hallowed waters of the fabled rivers Dee and Spey has an attraction of its own. Fishing those rivers in spring, is something special. Spring fishing can be extremely tough but also very rewarding at the same time.

Having fished these rivers for a number of years Conor offers tailored packages to suit each group. Indeed smaller groups of two or three anglers are also catered for. Fishing the larger rivers offers a more stable water height and a more dependable chance of decent fishing conditions. Also fishing at this time of year allows the visiting angler to fish some of the more prestigious beats at very affordable prices.

Catching the elusive Scottish springer is not an easy task, however the fish at this time of year are in fantastic condition, fresh into the river and often sea-liced. If the angler is fortunate enough to encounter one of these fish it will most likely remain in their memory for quite some time!!

The weeks on offer are after the spring equinox, coinciding with increasing numbers of fish entering the rivers. Both the Dee and Spey are renowned for their beautiful fast flowing fly water. However generally they are not deep rivers so even in spring, floating lines with a versitip would be the most common lines. Flies do vary quite a bit but hooked flies in sizes from 4 to 8 would be a must along with some smaller tubes up to two inches. For the last hour heading into dusk when the water temps are at their highest a large sunray is also a must......and I do mean large......
